Why does the constant `0x0` return an exception in Swift?

I am reading through Swift Programming Language book, and in a part of it it's mentioned that

Value of optional type 'Int?' must be explicitly converted to 'Int'.

And in a test I just wrote in playground, this is not the case:

let zero: Int? = 0x0

I have no idea why this doesn't compile and returns an exception (as mentioned in the book), and I would like to ask what's going on.

It's a fact that 0x0 is not an integer literal. 0x0 can be used to initialize a constant which is in binary format, for example:

let x = UInt8(0xC0)

But Swift doesn't support that. 0x0 should be a string.

In many other languages 0 is a constant, such as Java, JavaScript, or Ruby. A value of 0 is constant, and can be assigned to variables of type int or long.
